Ana sayfa / Android

Lately, security vulnerability issues encountered in mobile applications published on Google Play Store have been increasing. An important development in this regard was recorded with a new announcement made by the security research company Dr.Web. Dr.Web stated that a spyware called “SpinOk” targeting Android users was detected in more than 100 Android applications. These applications pose a threat to over 400 million users in total. Here are the details.

The malicious software called SpinOk is presented as a software development kit (SDK) for advertisers to use. After being installed on users’ devices, the software not only enables the display of hidden ads but also violates privacy rules by sending the user’s personal data to a remote server. The software, completely devoid of ethical understanding, also verifies the collection of real user data by using device sensors.

Although Dr.Web stated that most of the mobile applications containing this malicious software have been removed by Google Play Store, they emphasized that some are still in use. The company highlighted the need for users to review the list of harmful applications as soon as possible and stated that every update should be carefully examined before installation.
